Out Of Your Head Driver Speaker Setup

On some Windows systems, after a major Windows update, Windows can reset the speaker settings of the Out Of Your Head Virtual Audio Device.
We are not sure why Windows updates can reset these settings, but here’s the steps to set the correct settings back.

  1. Open the Windows Control Panel\Sound\Playback Devices
NOTE: For Windows 11, in the Windows Search, type “control panel” to open the legacy Windows Control Panel.
Then click on the heading “Hardware and Sound”.
Then click on “Sound” to open the sound control panel.
  2. Right-click on the “Out Of Your Head Virtual Audio Device”
  3. Select “Configure Speakers”
  4. In the window that opens, select “7.1 Surround”:

    Then click “Next”
  5. On the next screen, make sure all the items are checked:

    Then click “Next”
  6. On the next screen, make sure all the items are checked:

    Then click “Next”
  7. Then click “Finished”

Once that’s done, you may also have to setup the sampling rate. The best way to make sure you “reset” those settings, please follow the steps on this page:
